H Mart Westminster opened as the brand’s largest store in California, giving one of the state's most vibrant multicultural communities a new place for experiential shopping dining, and gathering.
The project transforms a long-vacant supermarket building into a 72,916-square-foot destination that blends grocery, food hall, and lifestyle retail. As H Mart's 85th U.S. location, the store is designed to resonate with Westminster's Asian and Non-Asian shoppers while giving the neighborhood a new anchor for daily life and shared meals.
PROJECT GOALS
The goal was to create a true community hub built around food, culture, and discovery.
Sitting near Little Saigon and close to the large Asian American communities in Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, and Buena Park, the store needed to work as both an everyday resource and an experience worth the trip. Reviving the empty building gave the project extra purpose, turning an overlooked site into something the neighborhood is now proud to call its own.
EXPERIENCE-DRIVEN RETAIL
A grocery store built for discovery.
H Mart Westminster reimagines the traditional grab-and-go grocery format as a modern, experience-driven place. Fresh produce, live seafood, premium meats, and specialty ingredients sit alongside wellness products and Korean kitchen housewares, organized to spark curiosity while keeping circulation efficient and intuitive.
A SOCIAL FOOD HALL
Eleven restaurants, one shared table.
An 11-restaurant food hall balances the expansive retail floor with a social scene of its own. Korean, Japanese, fusion, and bakery concepts sit side by side, creating a social energy that draws a trend-conscious crowd who comes for the food and stays to shop.

H Mart Westminster opened to long lines and an enthusiastic crowd. The project gives Westminster’s diverse community a true anchor, blending culture, convenience, and connection in a way that draws both visitors and neighbors from across Orange County.
