Well-designed libraries can become the heart of the community. Transylvania library is no exception as it represents the community’s spirit in a new way.
Serving as a vital, trusted source for discovery, inspiration and innovation, the Transylvania County library far exceeds the standards of a traditional library – offering an after-hours community room, an adjacent arboretum and an amphitheater for public performances. Using the county’s “land of waterfalls” slogan as design inspiration, the undulated roof offers a metaphorical response to the region’s many falls while other site features are used to further root the library in its context.
