Andrés sees architecture as an act of translation rather than transplantation. His work draws on ideas, cultures, typologies, and experiences encountered across different latitudes, with its value arising from how they meet a new reality. Climate, landscape, cultural memory, human behavior, and local rituals act as filters, transforming international knowledge into architecture that feels simultaneously unfamiliar and inevitable. This search is rooted in critical regionalism, but also in a fascination with the things that connect us regardless of geography: our instinctive relationship with nature, our attachment to cultural roots, our reading of context, and our desire to gather, move, discover, and belong.

He is particularly interested in design anomalies—unexpected moments when an idea from one building type, culture, or place can radically improve another. A workplace might borrow from a street; a hospital from a garden; an office campus from a hiking trail; infrastructure from a civic room. These collisions create opportunities to challenge convention and uncover experiences a traditional typology might never produce. For Andrés, design begins there: between the global and the local, the familiar and the unexpected, the individual and the collective.
